Never a True Christian

But Jesus Performed Miracles!

Christianity is founded on the claim that the gospel accounts of the miracles of Jesus are true.

The problem with this is that the only thing that testifies to these miracles ever having occurred is the gospels themselves.   There are no extrabiblical accounts of them.

Miracles       Everyone agrees that the Gospels were written decades after the events they report.   But even if the evidence were much better than that, even if we had hundreds of contemporaneous eyewitness accounts, that's still not good enough evidence for the miraculous claims of Christianity.

      Why not?

The problem is that here in the 21st Century, reports of miracles are still quite common.   There are Hindu yogis and mystics who reportedly walk on water and raise the dead and fly without the aid of technology and read minds and divine the future.

Take for instance Satya Sai Baba, the South Indian guru   -  all of the Jesus miracles are attributed to him.   He even claims to have been born of a virgin.   His devotees threw a birthday party for him a few years ago, and a million people showed up.

Satya Sai Baba's miracles don't even merit an hour-long documentary on the Discovery Channel, but record these miracles in an ancient text, and half the people on this earth think that it makes sense to organize their lives around Christianity and make all their decisions based on the teachings of their guru.
