Galatians 3:28 (New King James Version) says, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus [emphasis added]."

      Some Christians point to this verse and say, "Look! Christ has abolished slavery!"

      That's a very appealing idea.

      But if we're going to interpret the verse this way, we should note that it also says there is neither male nor female.

      If this verse abolishes slavery ... is God also a gender abolitionist?

      Someone could use that interpretation of Galatians 3:28 to argue in favor of same-sex marriage.
